French Horns

 

Holton French horns:

We recently received a number of Holton French horns and are in the process of getting them cleaned up and ready too sell. we have one of each of the following 378,179, 379,180. If you are interested, dont hesitate to give us a call. Come fall, they will probably all be gone.

Mirafone "Siegfried" model 179:

Just in! Ser. No 63XX, Not an often seen horn. Gold brass with nickel-silver trim, double horn. Kruspe Horner wrap. Made in the early 1970s. nice tone overall. Minor bell dents, minor ware. Comes with its original case. Instrument will be cleaned and serviced prior to sale. Call for details.

Alexander "tripple":

Gold brass with nickel-silver trim, Tripple french horn. Classic Alexander wrap with screw bell. Made in Germany. Minor dents, minor ware. Comes with its original case (nice). Instrument will be cleaned and serviced prior to sale.

Holton 180:

Recently arrived. Nice brass with nickel-silver trim, double horn. A real quality horn that has been well cared for. Alexander flipper was installed. Has had some past minor bell dent repair, very minor ware. Comes with its original case. Instrument has been cleaned and serviced.

Hans Hoyer Double French Horn:

Early handmade Geyer configuration, brass with nickel silver trim. We have restored a number of these in the past and every time have found them to be an outstanding French horn. We feel that whoever purchases this horn should be quite satisfied with the quality of workmanship. Complete overhaul included. Handmade, one-piece bell.

Ed Kruspe, Pre? Horner Model Double French Horn: Outstanding handmade professional quality instrument!

Yellow brass, with generous amounts of nickel silver trim. This instrument has been restored to great playable order. We estimate the manufacture date to be between 1910 and 1925. Holton 179:

Recently arrived. Nice older nickel-silver, double horn with screw-bell conversion (nicely done). A real quality horn that has been well loved by its one and only owner who is no longer playing. Comes with flat case and mute.

Holton 378:

We got this one in late this fall and were pleasently surprized to find it only to have minor dents and scratches. Its previous owner took very good care of it indeed. Nice horn, nice price. Comes with original formed hard plastic case.

Holton 77:

Though we try, its difficult these days to find affordable brand name double horns that are not ether stupid expensive or totally beat to a pulp. We think this one is an exception to that rule. A good older double horn with lacquer that is still in good order though it shows some signs of past repairs. A good horn for the price. Comes with original formed hard plastic case.

Holton 183 "Merker Matic"

Ser. No. 661XXX. Excellent university level double horn that is endorsed by the famous Ethel Merker of Chicago Symphony fame. This yellow brass instrument is close to like new condition, very few small dents and light scratches. An outstanding double horn for the aspiring young musician on a budget. Comes with original case and mouthpiece.

Conn 8D:

Ser no. H27XXX (mid 1960's, made in Elkhart IN) In overall very good condition, the instrument has a couple of very minor dings and the lacquer is about 60% intact, alos has Amado-style water keys on the mouthpipe and tuning slide. A great playing horn! Comes with original hard case.

Holton H179:

In very nice condition, this horn has been well cared for. Lacquered nickel silver body, no major dents, water key on mouthpipe, this is a great horn for the adult recreational player and the budding youngster! Also used by pros! Comes with original hard case.

Holton H179:

A good durable double horn, this instrument is not the prettiest thing on the block but plays well and is a good price. The lacquer is about 50% gone and there are a handful of small dents. Comes with original hard case.

Conn 8D:

Ser no. E36XXX (mid 1960's, made in Elkhart IN) In excellent condition, this horn was seviced extensively here in our shop a while back and has recently come available. Very minor dent and next to no scratches. Comes with original hard case.

Yamaha YHR668D French Horn:

This is the Yamaha professional Kruspe style double horn with the detachable bell! Other than a small handful of very minor "dings of love" this instrument is in excellent condition, been very lightly played and comes with the original hard case.

Yamaha YHR668N French Horn:

Kruspe Wendler Model compensating double horn:

Outstanding handmade professional instrument! Unlacquered yellow brass, with plenty of nickel silver trim. We figure the manufacture date to be from early 1950's. This horn is in excellent condition.

Holton H280 Double French Horn:

Serial No. 532XXX. This horn is made of solid nickel-silver "guts" with brass bell and bell branches, excellent horn for large or small ensemble playing. The bell has been converted into a detachable flair and much of the lacquer removed. This is a good playing horn, not much to look at but a good playing horn nonetheless!

Conn 8-D Double French Horn:

Serial No. L55XXX. This Elkhart 8D is in good condition with only minor dents and wear. It comes from around 1968 and plays very well. It has been chemically cleanded and the rotors have been addressed so they are tight and smooth.

Conn 8-D Double French Horn:

Serial No. 420XXX. This is a great playing horn with minimal wear on it. We are not sure of the age as the bell seams to have been replaced. This would be a great horn for a student that is planning on sticking with playing for a long time. This horn could take you through college and beyond. Comes with a new ProTec case.

Yamaha YHR-664:

Serial No: 0074XX. Great high school level or intermediate player double French horn! Does have some minor dents and lacquer wear. Comes with original hardshell case, worn but serviceable.

Reynolds Contempora:

Serial No. 288XXX. An outstanding orchestral horn. This nickel silver, large bore, instrument is modeled after the Conn 8-D. It posses a large full sound making it equally at home in brass quintets, orchestras or wind ensembles. Very nice condition with minimal lacquer wear with slight blemishes. Molded case included.
